Helen Keller, who can't see or hear, needs a different way to understand the world around her. Helen's teacher, Anne, uses sign language to speak to her, but it's hard for Helen to know what the signs mean. Anne figures out a way to teach Helen through touch. She pours water on Helen's hands and then teaches her the sign for "water" so she understands what it is.
