This Week:

7,641 FETCHers each used on average 80 pieces of paper.

If all these kids used just 5 fewer pieces of paper each day, FETCHers would use 8 fewer trees in one week.

So, how can you reduce the number of pieces of paper you use?

  • Use both sides of the paper (use the other side for scrap paper).
  • Only print what you really need to from your computer.
  • When you print from your computer, change the layout so it prints two pages on one piece of paper.
  • Ask your teachers to e-mail notes, newsletters & homework instead of printing them.
  • Recycle paper when you're done with it.
  • Get your friends and family to join this challenge!

You want to do even MORE?

  • Talk to your teachers about how to use less paper in the classroom.
  • When you buy paper and envelopes, make sure they're at least 30% post-consumer recycled content.
  • Use emails instead of paper mail.
  • Ask your parents to try paperless or online banking.
  • Ask your parents if you can cancel unwanted catalogues.
  • Ask your parents to have your junk mail stopped.
  • Ask your parents to try reading electronic books and articles.
