70's ZOOM Trivia

Did you know that the 1970's ZOOMers are now in their 30's and 40's, qualifying them for official Boomer ZOOMer status! Life after ZOOM has been very busy for many of these former ZOOMers. Here's some of their current jobs: a signmaker, playwright, doctor, train conductor, actress, air force member, percussionist, dancer and actor, doctor, Spanish interpreter, children's author, child psychiatrist and songwriter. ZOOM Marks the Spot on Your Calendar:

Now that you've spent the summer with Pablo, David, Alisa, Zoe, Jared, Lynese and Keiko, the Season II ZOOMers welcome you back to school! Starting September 11th, 2000, Alisa, Caroline, Kenny, Claudio, Jessie, Ray and Zoe are back with all the crazy ZOOMfunnies, romping ZOOMgames, tasty CafeZOOM recipes, seriously cool ZOOMsci activities and more. And we'll finish up the summer with another showing of the hilarious behind-the-scenes ZOOMspecial "The Making of ZOOM" on September 8th, 2000. As always, make sure to check with your local PBS station to confirm the 8th as your local air date for ZOOM show #141 and the week of September 11th, 2000 as your local air date for the beginning of the rebroadcast of Season II.

Blow Out Birthday Candles, Virtually!

Back to school means back to school-work, so feed your brain with lots of yummy ZOOMelicious treats from CafeZOOM. Tired of the same old PB&J? ZOOMify your lunch with a ZOOMspread Sandwich. Need to satisfy the afternoon munchies? Crunch them away with the perfect ZOOMmunch, Homemade Granola Bars! ZOOMspread

Here's what you will need to make it:
  • a banana
  • 1 tablespoon creamy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon honey
Here's what you have to do:
  1. Check with a grown-up before you start this.
  2. First, peel the banana.
  3. Then, smash the banana in a bowl.
  4. Now, take the peanut butter and mix it with the banana.
  5. Add the honey and mix well.
  6. Spread some on a piece of bread and enjoy.


Homemade Granola Bars

Here's what you will need to make it:
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs lightly beaten
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 4 cups quick oats
  • 1 cup raisins
  • greased 9"x13" baking pan
  • 2 mixing bowls
Here's what you have to do:
  1. Check with a grown-up before you start this.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  3. Mix 4 tablespoons melted butter, 1/2 cup honey, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 2 eggs in a bowl.
  4. Mix 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup whole wheat flour, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, and 4 cups quick oats in another bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ones mixing it really well.
  6. Then, mix in 1 cup raisins.
  7. Spread mixture into a greased 9"x13" pan.
  8. Press the batter down so that it's spread evenly in the pan.
  9. Bake for 15 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Make sure you use oven mitts when taking them out of the oven.
  10. Once they've cooled, you can slice them into bars.
  11. Bon Appetit!
