Help Your Kids ZOOM Into Action!

You can help kids make a difference!
Why do kids volunteer? Kids responding to a ZOOM survey said they volunteer because it's fun and it makes them feel like they can make a difference. And they do. From food drives to visiting "grandfriends" at nursing homes, kids are helping make the world a better place.

But kids need your support. Behind every young volunteer is an adult who provides guidance and supervision. Kids need help choosing activities, gathering materials, calling volunteer organizations, and reflecting on their experiences. In addition, many organizations will not accept volunteers under the age of 18 unless they are accompanied by an adult or part of an established program.

The guidance you provide young volunteers goes a long way. Research shows that kids who volunteer develop self-confidence and self-esteem, learn social responsibility, gain new skills, and are less likely to be involved in "at-risk" behaviors. Plus, kids who start volunteering before their teens are more likely to benefit from and remain engaged in community activities.
