- Hailey, age 14 of Spotsylvania, VA
I liked Eragon, but it's a total rip-off of Lord of the Rings! Doesn't 'Eragon' sound like 'Aragon'? Plus the whole elf thing. Arya is just like Arwen, and even their names sound similar. I'm not saying I don't like Aragon, I would just stick to Lord of the Rings if I were you! LORD OF THE RINGS- the movie rocked. ERAGON- the movie stunk.
- ZOOM Fan of Little Mountain, SC
Love it!!!
- Bryson, age 14 of Callahan, FL
its awsome.
- Deborah, age 16 of Albuquerque, NM
Eragon is a truly amazing book! It has a great plot line, fully developed characters, it is very interesting never boring. I loved these books, and I greatly admire Christopher Paolini for undergoing such a terrific challenge of making these books, and devoting so much time and energy to them. If you like these books, I would also highly recommend: The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of The Rings, The Hobbit, The Silmarilian, Mere Christianity, and The Dragon Keeper Series by Donita K. Paul. Enjoy all of these amazing and wonderful books.
- Eilieh, age 9
Eragon is great, Eldest is better, but Brisingr is best (so far. Mystry book no. 4 might be better). If you like Eragon, you should read the sequels. (Just dont watch the movie!)
- Hannah, age 10 of Horseheads, NY
I love it! Its one of my favorites! Except for Lord Of The Rings!! I can't wait till the fourth book comes out!!
- Sydney, age 11 of Portland, OR
Eragon was a long complicated book. It got harder to keep up with each book he made. (Christopher Paolini) I have to say I enjoyed all of his books though. They were well written and full of emotion. You can tell he enjoyed writing it and works hard.
- Aileen, age 12 of Canton, GA
Eragon is a great book because it's thrilling though in the previous book that came out, near the end, it was pretty boring but I still loved it.
- Andrew, age 16 of Middleport, NY
Here's a poem summing up my feelings on this book series: The story and the character guys Are basically Star Wars in disguise Eragon, you're basically Luke, And Darth Vader is like that Durza spook As for that Jedi-er dragon rider Brom Quit pretending and admit you're Obi Wan. At least the Empire keeps its name Cause in both stories it's really the same. Anakin Skywalker=Murtag (Nothing rhymes with Murtag) Yoda=the Mourning Sage Just go to Eragon, on the last page: Luke and Eragon get training in secret powers And move things with their minds and meditate for hours. The dragons were copied from somewhere else And so was that Arwen-Arya elf. I don't want to bash Paolini or say that he's dumb But his book is as plagiarized as stories come. So to make my point shorter and faster, Eragon, ditch the sword and get yourself a blaster.
- Cantelle
There's jut a couple of things you should know about this book: 1. It's long. 2. It's sometimes hard to understand (as in the words). 3. The movie for it is terrible! If you like fantasy and if you're a good(or older, like 12 or older) reader, then this book is for you! The sequels are really good, too. Just don't see the movie, it's terrible and nothing like the book.
- Helena, age 15 of Long Beach, CA
I thought Eragon was a pretty good book. It's not one of the best books I've read, and it is kinda long, but it is pretty good. Good enough that I read the other two:) And if this is Christopher Paolini's first book ever and he started it when he was my age, then I bet he'll write some really amazing books as he gets more experience. I know some people complain about "too many big words" but I like it like that (because I like to use big words like that too!)
- Alexis, age 9 of Des Moines, IA
It was okay, but it was kind of a copy of other books.
- Tim, age 12 of Fort Lauderdale, FL
A cross between Star Wars and Lord of The Rings, but still a good read.
- Amelia, age 11 of Seattle, WA
Eragon was an excellent book. It was filled with magic, mystery, thrills, chills, spills, and much more. What more could you ask in a book? I have read several books in my lifetime and Eragon and all the Eragon sequels are in my top 5 list.
- Danielle, age 14 of Houston, TX
I read Eragon this year for a class. And I fell in love with the book! It sounds boring but its cause you haven't gotten into the main thing in the book. The best part. I loved the book soo much that I'm reading Eldest.
- Jamar, age 13 of PA
Ever watched Star Wars (the original one)? OK, then, you know what happens in Eragon already. It's just not exciting, and it drags.
- Ester, age 7 of Malrboro
Love it.
- Adri, age 10 of Chicago, IL
I love Eragon!!! This book is awesome! this is my second time all favorite!!! -the first is Twilight.
- Rhyan, age 12 of CA
This book is a waste of time.
- Hannah & Drew, age 12 of St.Paul, MN
I haven't exactly read the whole book yet but im speaking for my cousin, Drew, He loves all the books. When I was at their house he was sick and read almost all the book in one day(and he is usally a slow reader) Im reading the book over the summer! They seem really good!
- Melannie, age 8 of Kenosha, WI
This is one of the best books in the world, and I believe that more people would enjoy it if they liked dragons.
- Kimba, age 12 of WA
I think it's a highly boring book! David is right about it.
- Brianna, age 16 of Albuquerque, NM
It's ok. The best thing about it, is that the dragon's aren't all mean. Saphira would be cooler if she could talk though. My best friend likes to read it, so do some of my other freinds, and my brother. The story of a farm boy becomming a hero is inspiring. It reminds me of Luke in Star Wars becoming a jedi.
- Jason, age 11 of Baltimore, MD
i think it is very cool. in every way. when my friend jared read it he was done in 4 or 5 days. Rock on!
- Steven, age 13 of Berwick, PA
eragon is a great book and its the coolest book in school.
- Zachary, age 10 of Portland, OR
It seemed boring at first, I don't know what happens next. The words were for older kids, probably even older than me. Most people say the book is for teens. I haven't read all the Harry Potter books, I finished Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, all I know is that the Harry Potter books (so far,) are AWESOME beginning to end.
- David, age 16 of Green Valley, AZ
'Eragon' is off to a slow start, but eventually gets more interesting near the middle and is fairly decent towards the end. However, I agree with one of the reviews under here that says fantasy stories should have a God-figure. This book doesn't. (I don't recall any morals other than 'be brave' and things like that, though that;s not bad.) Although, I did not like the part where Eragon is in the cathedral and is praying to it, that's weird...
- Mackenzie, age 10 of FL
it's not really as interesting as some other fantasy adventure books, but it is not really all that bad either. sort of boreing, but not really. 3 toes.
- Scott, age 16 of Rochester, NY
I have been reading the reviews under here, and I would like to say that if you like fantasy books these aren't as bad as some; but then again they aren't as good as others. Stay with the Chronicles of Narnia/Prydain, Lord of the Rings, or if that's too long, the Hobbit.
- Alana, age 14 of Moreville, ME
The tone was so... serious. Not that I don't like serious books, but they have to have a little humor in them. Solemn books where people are too solemn are too hard to read. It makes it boring. But since I don't like to be mean or bash the author or anything the author did have a large vocabulary.
- Bryan, age 10 of Millville, MD
Well, it was like this. I read it and I fell asleep. On page 10.
- Vough, age 16 of Noonvale, NE
Too many long words, and I doubt the author knew what half of them meant, or he wouldn't have used them.
- Kayleigh, age 16 of Albuquerque, NM
This book was AMAZING!!! I highly recommend it!!
- Nate, age 10 of Roanoke, VA
This book totally rocks. The movie isn't as great as the book. This Action-filled Book blows the HARRY POTTER BOOKS out of the water. READ IT!!!
- Erin, age 11 of Tifton, GA
I like it. It can be a bit boring sometimes but now its pretty good. And I am not even half through.
- Beryl, age 12 of CT
The book is all right, but in my opinion dragons should be bad. They're supposed to represent evil.
- Katarina, age 9 of Blacksburg, VA
I read some of it and it was BORRING because NOTHING excitting happened. I like books with more excitment so I give it 0. 6 toes.
- Benjamin, age 14 of Albuquerque, NM
I like eragon because it has action and saphira is cool. I like it so much I used $50 to buy the video game. I would also like to say... ERAGON ROCKS!!!
- Jeremiah, age 16 of Bakersfield, CA
Ok, I tried to read it. I repeat I TRIED to read it. But whe DURING the first chapter I am guessing what will happen next AND IT DOES! The basic story is that of Star Wars dressed in Lord of the Rings clothing, along with the main dragon's name being a rip-off from Final Fantasy and Eragon, ever see LotR children? Aragorn and Eragon sound very similar. Pretty much all boring, and predictable.
- ZOOM Fan, age 16 of MO
Love it because it is really coo!
- ZOOM Fan, age 10 of Texas
So not my thing! The book and movie were so bad. Didn't like the book.
- Shaide, age 15 of Shoshoni, WY
Wow, I got on here and read some of the reviews, and I am shocked to find out about so many kids who don't like it. It has to be by far one of my favorite books ever. I have read the whole series over and over I think they are great. I say a full five toes. I thought it was an easy book to follow. I would recomend this book to people who are looking for adventure, mystery, and a book that makes you want to keep reading it. I would absolutely love to meet the author. I believe Christopher did a fantastic job. There were so many things in this book that makes you want to read more and find out about what happens!
- Sam of Newport News
Not bad but not good. The book was way better than the movie!
- Blake, age 11 of Broken Arrow, OK
becuase I like that book I read it and I like it. the end
- Blanka, age 14 of MO
I don't really like it that much. It gets boring at times and it's long. I do like dragons though...
- Dylan, age 10 of Brunswick, MD
That is the best book I have ever read. It has so much actoin in it but it is pretty sad to because a lot of peaole die in it like Brom and his uncle in the beggining of the book. It is the best!!!
- Hannah, age 11 of Huntington, WV
I LOVE it. The author is really good, and I'm glad that Brisinger came out. It's soo goood. 100, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000 toes. I don't know what that numbor is, but I know it's above the trillions.
- Katy, age 12 of Little Rock, AR
I think Eragon is a pretty good book. The characters are pretty well written and I Loved Saphira. (Her attitude is cool) But the movie... Well lt put it this way. stick to the book!!! If they do the 2nd book as a movie, don't screw it up!
- Tony, age 10 of Edmonton, AB
I like it cause it gives lots of detail. I think its a little better then the movie.
- Patrick, age 9 of Alexandria, VA
I read all 3 books--Eragon, Eldest and Brisingr--and I have to say Eragon was the most boring of all three. The trilogy got off to a slow start, then Eldest was 4 toes, but Brisingr was definetely the best.
- Belle, age 14
I know that most kids who are reviewing this aren't quite old enough to really understand the Lord of the Rings, so they think Eragon is great. Well, it's actually a rip-off. Every part is ripped right out of other BETTER books. I don't understand why Eragon is so popular. It's funny, but not intentionally.
- Brandon, age 14 of Jericho, NY
This book is the heart of fantasy in my opinion as it changes the life of a simple farm boy. Me living in a middle class family understood the hardships of eragon. and what I like most about it is that each character was so different and that the plot grew with each character. there is so much to talk about so much happens in this one book, it is simply amazing.
- Darby, age 9 of Goodlettsville, TN
One word:LOVE. I'm going to read the sequel. I got lost for hours in it. 10 toes!!
- Natasha, age 11 of El Paso, TX
i like it because uit talks about fantasy
- Katie, age 13 of Chesapeake, VA
This book is soooo good. I'm a dragon freak and this book is so perfect. I've read Eldest and I can't wait for Brisinger.
- Gwen, age 11 of Chicago, IL
I LOVED Eragon because I could just picture riding Saphira. I even dressed up as the elf girl for halloween
- Emmy, age 13 of Los Osos, CA
This book I didn't get at first but in the end it covered everything I didn't understand and Eragon would definitely be worth '5 toes'. I was pretty amazed that such a young author would cover this much in one book and I'm already onto the third in the trilogy. It has inspired me to make my own stories by what the author has done. A must read.;D
- Casey, age 13 of MI
It's awesome! One of the best books I've ever read! But the movie (If you've read the book) is HORRIBLE! I mean, they skip over HALF the book! I know they can't put the whole book in movie form but they leave out tons of characters, skipped a huge part of the story - the part that makes it interesting! - and they change the end scene so much the only thing in common is that- never mind, if you haven't read the book it would reveal to much! Read the book! Skip the movie!
- Anna, age 10
I love it, the adventures are so interesting!
- Callista, age 13
Eragon is a really good book. I could see everything happening in Alagaesia in my head.
- Alex, age 7 of Bronx, NY
ITS SOOOO COOL! I 5 Toes:) Lots of people in second grade think im weird because I reead it but im smart like that:)
- Sam, age 12 of Saline, MI
This is the best book EVER!!! I love all the action and how people turn out to be different then you expect them to be. This book was so great I couldn't put it down!! I think its so cool that it was written by, like, a 15 year old. I hope Christopher Paulini keeps the books coming!!
- Dominc, age 10 of Simivalley, CA
I think its a great book. Every sentence I read I think I'm there in the book. but the movie is really different. They didn't even show eragon learning magic. I definitely disagree with the people who say stick to the lord of the rings series. this is the best book i've ever read (besides the harry potter series) but it's still great.
- Lexi, age 13 of Brookfield, IL
I love Eragon! It took me a week to finish that book. I'm a bookworm! I love to read good books lik Eragon!
- Nancy of Dumoun, IA
I love it because it has a dragon
- Hannah, age 11 of Huntington, WV
I love it. The auther is going to make the third one into two books. My sister hated it. She would probly give it one toe. I give it five toes.
- Lucy, age 10 of Jefferson City, MO
My word! I LOVED IT! All sorts of exiteing things happening all in this book! Also, this book was SO good, words aren't strong enough to discribe it.
- Becky, age 13 of Red Bud, IL
I think that this book is A-mazing! I LOVE fantasy so much and this really is one of my favorite books, just as the Inkheart trilogy and Harry Potter series are, and it makes me feel as if I was in Alegasia whenever I read it.
- Lydia, age 12 of Amsterdam, NY
Eragon was such an amazing book, especially with such a young author! I started Eldest too and can't wait till the next one comes out!!!
- ZOOM Fan, age 14
Ok here's the thing, I really enjoyed the first book of the series, but when I got to the second it was not the same. What really botherd me was the authors vegitarian veiws which were obviously aparent in the main characters disaproval of Saphira eating meat, and after catching and cooking a rabbit he feels to guilty to eat it. My thought is don't waist it! I agree with Grace age 13 from MD, Stick to Lord of The Rings and The Chronicals of Narnia. P. S The move is not as obvious on these veiws. It also is totally different.
- Megan, age 13 of Cincinnati, OH
LOVE IT!!! I've read both Eragon and Eldest, and their both way my style!! I love fantasy and reality mixed together, that's why I like Eragon. I also love adventure books, and fight and all that just make me whant to read more!!
- Suzie, age 11 of Houston, TX
Me like a girl I luved the book actually I saw da movie but I dont say awsom but I say great
- Jacob, age 12 of Norwich, CT
Eragon was a great book, and I was hooked on it aftervthe first five minutes. Chris p. did a great job with character personalities, descriptions, and the plot. I finished the whole thing in, like, 3 days.
- Vanessa, age 13 of Alhambra, CA
Eragon is an AWESOME book! it is a good piece of litteriture. infact, the book inspired me to write my own story about dragons. (and its actually going well.) the movie was ok, book: better, much better. the descriptions of Saphira and Eragon's relationship made you actually feel the characters. I wish the next two books can come out. check on the book website and Paloni says he will write two. I totaly recomend the book for fantacy and especialy dragon lovers. I would give it infintiy toes!!!
- Hannah, age 13 of Boise, ID
I really enjoyed reading the book! But I hated the Movie it didn't follw the book at all!
- Laurence, age 12 of NC
Loved the book, loved the land Paolini created. Christopher is an inspiration to all young people who have a talent for writing.
- Tika, age 13 of Hesston, KS
Eragon was EXTREMELY good!!! I got the first and second books for my B-day. Chrisipher Paolini is almost finished with the third book. But it's so long, I think he's going to put it in two books. I just wish he would hurry up!!!
- Grace, age 14 of MD
I started to read this book, but then stopped. Why, you ask? Not because it was fantasy (I love fantasy). Not because it was about a boy (I really don't care). But because it was very poorly written. Very amateurish quality in my opinion, hard to follow. And I've heard stuff regarding it such as the negative feeling in the book towards believing or having faith in anything other than yourself. So, not trying to be mean, but if you want some decent fantasy, stick with Lord of the Rings and the Chronicles of Narnia. Way better.
- Laquisha, age 15 of Windsor, ON
I loved it! it was good, but it was a little long. the next one should come out soon, I hope. also, the movie was good, but they completly ruined the book. you have to watch it without thinking of the book, then it's alot better!
- Ashley, age 13 of Muncie, IN
I love this book because it gives kids a chance to go somewhere where they cant go in real life... it takes you I another world... another dimension even... this is a great place and oppurtunity for kids to just let themselves go for just a minute or a couple minutes... it is fun while still being educational...
- Savana, age 10 of Houston, TX
It is the best book in the world!!! ( Besides Harry Potter of course!!!)
- Sarah, age 14 of Stuttgart, Germany
This book was ok. I am not that big on fantacy in the first place, so this book really was not my favorite. In my opinion, all fantacy books need to have a God figure. Someone for the people to look up to. In this book, Eragon (a human) was the supposed 'savior' and it didn't work out so well. But beside from that rather large fact. I would give it 3 toes.
- Kelly, age 13 of Syracuse
I love Eragon, although it took me a little bit to get used to the 'fantasy' talk. I saw the movie and that was good too.
- Jessica, age 9 of Trenton, NJ
I love it!!! Its sooooooooo cool. omg
- Angel, age 10 of Santo Domingo
I love Eragon, its so cool, in the air being the dragon rider driving a fire breathing dragon, its so awesome I wish I could be in the book, if I was you would not want to know what would happen to me
- Brianna, age 11 of Toledo, OH
It's OK. It's just a little dull, but it's a good idea!
- Ashley, age 14 of Covington, GA
So, I've never actually read the book, but I have seen the movie. It's cool; I enjoyed it. What imagination, right?
- Debby of Cleveland, OH
I *heart* this book. DON'T WATCH THE MOVIE. It doesn't follow the book at all.
- Jordan, age 15 of ON
Ewwwww! Not my thing! It's weird. Dragons... that talk? Again... not my thing.
- Aurora, age 15 of Grishwald, MT
Eragon is the type of book I would generally love, action, romance, cool mysterious people---but the major downside is that it completely lacks originality. Two toes.
- Haley, age 14 of Auburndale, FL
I like it because every sentence you read will want you not to stop reading. it gets so interesting that you dont want to stop!
- Katherine, age 10 of Dopont, WA
I love Eragon i. It is so magical.
- Jessica, age 11 of Bozeman, MT
It is one of the best books I have ever read. It was so inspiring how he learns and deafeats durza. I like all the detail. My cousin knew christpher paolini!!!
- Katherine, age 11
It was okay... pretty good, but kinda boring. I enjoyed it enough, but I'm not going to read it again.
- Jannette, age 10 of Galt, CA
Eragon is a really good book I would recomend it! If you where bored why not just go to the library and check it out.
- Katherine, age 7 of Chino Hills, CA
I like it becuse it had a dragon in it and I am born of the year of the dragon. I think eragon is the best! I hope you like it to.
- Reid, age 10 of Newberg, OR
I love adventure and Eragon has lot's of it, and I love dragons, fantasy and everthing in Eragon.
- Sunny, age 12 of Allentown, PA
Book rocked! Totally 5 toes!
- Ruth
I like it but its not rellay my thing
- Evie, age 10 of Madison, WI
Eragon makes me feel great! I really luv it.
