Elephant! Garfield 'From the Tow Path to the White House' Banner

People in parades need banners! This one, from James Garfield's 1880 campaign, is about his humble early years. He was born in a log cabin, and one of his first jobs was driving a canal boat in Ohio.

Donkey!

Canal boats were pulled by mules. They walked next to the canal, on a road called the tow path. And guess what -- a mule is a cross between a horse and a donkey!
