Episode #105 Noo-noo
Noo-noo’s favorite thing is cleaning up after the Teletubbies
but on his special day, the Noo-noo just can’t help being a little
naughty. It’s a messy day to play and giggle with the Teletubbies
and their lovable Noo-noo.
Educational Objectives: Prosocial; problem solving; repetition
Dress in blue for Noo-noo Day. Have a bowl of blueberries
and a cup of juice with a twisty straw to make slurpy sounds like the
Noo-noo
Activity:
First, everyone must draw a picture of his or favorite thing on a full-sized
sheet of paper. Then, everyone sits in a circle, holding the picture
on top of their head. One child is the Noo-noo and walks around
the outside of the circle, looking at each child’s picture.
(If he wishes, he can make the Noo-noo’s silly slurpy noise.)
After walking around the circle one or two times, Noo-noo slurps up
one of the seated children’s pictures. Naughty Noo-noo!
The child whose picture has been “cleaned up” must get up
and chase Noo-noo around and around the circle until one of them is
just too tired to run any more. The child who was the Noo-noo sits in
the circle, and the child whose picture was “cleaned up”
becomes Noo-noo for the next round.
Play until everyone who wants a turn at being the Noo-noo
has had one. When everyone is good and tired, have a happy Big
Hug. (And perhaps a nap!)
If you don’t have a group of children, play a clean
up game with a bubble activity as a reward. Plan a fun family
day of washing and bubble play. Mix up a batch of homemade bubble
mix. Let it sit for a few hours while everyone gets the washing
done – washing dishes, washing the car, washing the windows.
Be sure the preschooler in the family has a sponge and his or her own
special clean up assignment. Praise everyone for a job well done.
. .Then it’s time for bubble fun!
For the Bubble Mix:
Add one cup of dishwashing detergent to 3 cups water with 3/8 cup corn
syrup. Mix gently with a spoon and let the mix sit for 3-5 hours.
Many household items make good bubble makers. Shape
big circles out of several pipe cleaners twisted together. Use
a tea strainer. Make a big bubble string circle. Plastic
drinking straws, old-fashioned potato mashers – even berry baskets
can make great bubbles.
