Directions

Note: Parental supervision is required for this activity
Peel and eat an orange with your child. Smell the sweet smell of the orange peelings. Separate the sections and count them to see how many there are. Find the seeds in the orange.

Grow a small garden in old paint or coffee cans! Punch drainage holes in the bottom of the cans. Place a layer of stones or pebbles in the bottom and fill with soil. Look for seed packets for smaller vegetable types: beans and peas.

Plant the seeds according to the directions on the seed packet. If you wish, cover the cans with decorative paper and paste pictures of the vegetables you've planted on the can.
