Here's a way to help children
appreciate things that are little and things that are big.
Materials:
- Music from a radio, tape player or
CD player
- Space to move around
Directions:
Encourage your child to make up
exercises that have really big movements, like:
- Making
windmill arm movements
- Kicking as
high as he or she can
- Lifting knees
and touching them with his or her hands
Then see if your child can show you
some small movements, like:
- Exercising
fingers only
- Opening and
closing jaws
- Moving only
toes while keeping feet on the floor
Move to the music. Alternating big
and small movements helps your child develop self-control.
