Kick Ball

illustration of balls

Age Range: 3-5

Subject:

  • Physical Exercise/Movement

Objectives:

  • Gross Motor Skills
  • Self Control

Help children practice using their bodies with freedom and with control as they play kick ball.

Materials:

  • One or more large balls sturdy enough for kicking

Directions:

You'll probably want to do this activity outdoors. You can explain that when people kick a ball, they can knock things over or break things, so they need to have a safe place to play. Older children might want to talk about teams and then divide into two groups so they can kick the ball back and forth. Younger children often find it hard to wait, so you might want to have several balls... or make sure they have something else to do until it's their turn.
