There are some things we are
allowed to do and some things we are not allowed to do. This activity can help
children talk about how they feel when someone says "no" to them.
Materials: None
Directions:
Ask the children to name some
things they are not allowed to do at school, such as
- Throw rubber balls near windows
- Hit other children
- Ride a tricycle in the street
Help the children think of things
they can do instead, such as
- Bounce the balls on the sidewalk
- Use words to say they're angry
- Ride a tricycle in the playground
Then encourage the children to name
other things they can do when they feel angry because someone said "no," such
as
- Pound on clay
- Draw an "angry" picture that
expresses their feelings
- Make up a "mad" song that
expresses their feelings
- Dance
