Dedication to Fred Rogers
A Symbol of love, respect and dedication,
Who like no other human being could show,
Fred Rogers, dedicated his life's work
To helping all our children grow.
For decades we appreciated,
His wisdom, knowledge and kindness,
That guided us through our younger years,
Showing us the path to happiness.
Whether he was showing us how things worked;
Or teaching us one of lives moral lessons,
His believing this world was worth growing in,
Made us love him more with each session.
His work touched past generations,
In passing he will still prevail,
For eternity he lives on in our hearts
And our children now and to come he will not fail.
For he will always live on in our hearts
All the children and adults mourn in pain.
At the passing of a great man Fred Rogers,
Whom God so graciously gave us without vain.

It's now been almost 2 weeks since we learned of Mr. Rogers' death and I still find myself with a heavy heart. Like so many people who have written, I too grew up watching this show. I can still sing most of the songs by heart including my favorite --- "You Can Never Go Down the Drain!" It may seem silly now but that was one of my fears when I was little. That was one of the wonderful things about Mr. Rogers --- he understood what it was like to be a small child and in each episode, he gave validation to emotions that so many of us felt, and perhaps still feel. There will certainly be no replacement for him in my heart. And, while the neighborhood certainly seems emptier without him, he's not really truly gone so long as we hold him dear to our hearts. So, I would like to thank Mr. Rogers' family for sharing such a special person with all of us. May they find some comfort in knowing that they have so many neighbors. And, thank you, PBS, for keeping his memory alive in video and for providing this forum for all of us, both young in age and young in heart, to share our memories of this wonderful man. May you rest in peace, Mr. Rogers, and know that you certainly made the world I grew up in a much brighter place!

The world is a sadder place withour Fred Rogers in it, but what he gave to the world will live on. I grew up watching him. I was born in Pittsburgh in 1969 (I met him at a parade in 1972). I will always remember one series of shows in which he talked about an upcoming visit by an astronaut (spaceflight has always been my passion). On the appointed day, my mother and I got ready to watch (I even brought my potty seat into the room, so I wouldn't risk missing anything). But the astronaut wasn't there, and Mister Rogers spent the episode talking about disappointment (I've never known whether he planned it that way or whether the astronaut couldn't make it at the last minute). After his death, I decided to introduce my 3-year-old son to the Neighborhood (he watches VERY little TV, and only animal documentaries). He loves it! (Although he seems to be a little afraid of Bob Dog, but we're working through that.)

Even though I only known you for about 14 years, I will truly miss you like I've known you for 100 years! Thanks for telling me stuff that some-people would be to scared to say. It may hurt, but children and parents need to know the truth. You are truley missed, Mr. Rogers.

There is little to be said that can thoroughly honor a person who's influenced the lives of so many with such a positive message. Mr. Rogers will forever be synonymous with kindness, hope, understanding, as well as the appreciation and willingness to accept all that is new or different. Thanks Mr. Rogers, for reminding me to love myself and everyone else too.

My children and I watched Miister Rogers' Neighborhood from the time they were little. My daughter is now 16 and remembers watching the program. As a parent, I liked the way that he gently talked to the children, made them feel important, and showed that he truly cared. His blessings to us will go on.

I want to express my sorrow in hearing the news that Fred Rogers has passed from this Neighborhood. My Family Sends our greatest Sympathy to The Entire Rodgers Family and the Extended Family that Knew Him and called him friend. We the viewing public have lost a friend of ours while you have suffered the loss of a family member. We can not express our sence of grief that we know that you are going thru at this time, but know that our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of grief. The Neighborhood will never be the same ,but we know that the Neighborhood will always be everexpanding.

I'm 47 years old and several years ago started watching Mr. Rogers Neighborhood for the first time with my daughter. I began to look forward to those peaceful experiences--his gentleness reminded me to be gentle with my daugher, and with others, throughout my day. I am so glad he was well loved by his family. I think he made my family better by helping us start a busy day with a reminder to love and appreciate one another. Thanks to all who contributed to Mr. Rogers' life--he was special.

WE ARE SO GRATEFUL TO HAVE HAD THE TIME WE DID WITH MR. ROGERS. MY DAUGHTER IS ALMOST SEVEN AND IS THE LAST GENERATION IN OUR FAMILY TO HAVE HAD THE FUN IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD.

Growing up I watched Mr. Rogers every chance I could. My mother for some odd reason didn't enjoy watching, however it never failed that her and my grandmother would make sure I had the chance to watch. Even as an adult, I'd occasionally catch a glimpse of Mr. Roger's and the neighborhood of make-believe and remember all the wonderful memories that I still treasure today. Mr. Rogers will always have a special place in my heart and help remind me that being nice and validating feelings of others is never wrong. I may be viewed as a tad naive, but I'd rather try to find the good in others than always look for the negatives. Thank you so much Mr. Rogers for just being you.
With deep fondness and love may your family know that you touched many and warmed their hearts.
