First gather a few things:
bananas (not real ripe)
peanut butter
toothpicks
butter knives or plastic knives
small paper cups or an ice cube tray
Give each child half a banana and show how to peel it. After slicing the banana halves into several pieces, the children can spread some peanut butter on one banana slice and put another banana slice on top. If the bananas get a little slippery and messy, you can put the peanut butter and banana slices between two pieces of bread and cut the sandwiches into several pieces so everyone can have a taste.

 | Children are curious about the insides of things especially when those things are hidden. When they peel a banana, they see that there's something very different on the inside. The peeling is a protection for the banana. What other foods do they know that have a peel? |
