Fathers and Music

Fathers Give Care in Many Ways

Thoughts for the Week:

Some children see their dads daily: it may even be their father who provides the primary care in their household. Other children see their fathers only occasionally, if at all, but even children who have had no contact with their fathers are likely to have fantasies about who that person is.

In the programs this week, we focus on fathers as nurturers, and the ways that dads pass on values and interests, such as music. We can never tell how - or if - such interests as a love of music will pass down the generations, yet it's often those interests of fathers that leave lasting memories as children grow older. Helping children appreciate the many ways fathers give care is an important way of helping them understand what love is all about.
