A Cradle for the Dolls

illustration of pretend crib

Age Range: 3-5

Subject:

  • Caring and Cooperation
  • Work and Responsibility
  • Pretend Play

Objectives:

  • Develop Imagination
  • Use Play to Work on Feelings

Give the children a chance to be the ones giving care.

Materials:

  • Crib sheets or baby blankets
  • Two chairs

Directions:

Help the children tie or pin the sheets between two chairs to make a swinging cradle for the dolls or stuffed animals. The children can role-play about taking care of the dolls and putting them to bed. The children might enjoy learning a lullaby to sing as they put the dolls to sleep...or they might make up a lullaby of their own.
