About

The Ready To Learn Initiative

Kids love to learn. The Ready To Learn initiative is here to help learning happen at home, at school, in child care, and in the community.

Funded by the United States Department of Education, the Ready To Learn initiative creates engaging television programs, exciting games, playful Web sites, and easy-to-use learning resources for kids, parents, caregivers, and teachers—all with the goal of helping children ages 2 to 8 get ready to read.

All Ready To Learn initiative programs and materials incorporate the latest research about the most effective ways for kids to build reading skills, with a special emphasis on the needs of children from low income families. Ready To Learn initiative programs and materials are developed and distributed by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), PBS, and the Ready To Learn Partnership (RTLP). PBS member public television stations nationwide are important partners in the Ready To Learn initiative.

Between the Lions, Sesame Street, SUPER WHY, and WordWorld continue to be part of the PBS KIDS Ready To Learn initiative programming, and fun new shows are on the way!
