Q: What kinds if things can be found in your
school locker? — LaTisha D., New York
Maggie: Good question! I have tons of stuff in my locker (besides my school books and
school things). Let’s see… pictures of my friends, pictures of my favorite music and movie
stars (these change a lot!), nail polish, extra snacks, my favorite pink sweater in case I get cold,
ribbons and clips for my hair, my gym shoes, CDs, a snow globe my grandma brought back for me from her
trip to London, a broken calculator… hey, come to think of it, I’d better clean out my locker!
Q: how old are you? What culture are you? What grade are you? What do you like t do? Please tell
me some things to put in my locker and how to decorate it? — Maati, Illinois
Maggie: Hi Maati, it's so nice to hear from you. I am 10-years-old and Chinese American. Along
with Maya, Miguel, and most of my other friends, I am in 5th grade. I love to dress up with Maya and
Chrissy, design clothes, and then make my designs. I just love bright colors like red and purple. For
your locker, I would cut out different shapes you like (I love hearts and stars) in your favorite colored
paper. I would also cut out fun words and pictures from magazines and tape them to the walls of your
locker. Remember though to ask for help from a grown up, just in case. My Mom and Grandma always help
me. Good luck!
Q: i would really like a response to my letter sent about 2 hours ago to see if i could send them to
you all the time but i never received a response please find out what is up with that. — Cheslie, North
Carolina
Maggie: Hi Cheslie, you can e-mail me whenever you want, but I can't always respond. This year
in school we have a lot of homework, and after school I am usually doing something like dance class or
helping my mom and dad. It was good to hear from you. I'm so excited I have a friend in North Carolina.
Q: What do you want to be when you grow up? I personally think you'd be great at being a fashion
designer. — Alma, Illinois
Maggie: Alma, how did you know? I DO want to be a fashion designer!!! I
think it would be pretty cool to be a doctor, teacher, or a famous actress, too.
Q: What is your favorite subject in school? — Maria, New York
Maggie: Maria, my absolute favorite subject is art, but my next favorite is history. After
I went to the museum with Maya and saw the Ancient Culture exhibit on China, I became absolutely obsessed
with learning more!
Q: I just moved here from china I know the american language and letters, but can't speak it,
what do I do? — Yan Chan, Louisiana
Maggie: Hi Yan, I would keep trying, ask your teachers and friends for help, and don't be afraid
to make mistakes!
