Mama on the savanna Mama Mirabelle - Elephants are especially maternal animals and their “family values” mirror our own in striking, significant ways. The elephant mother-child bond is particularly close.

So it makes perfect sense that the star, matriarch, heart and soul of the show is a pachyderm (that’s a fancy word for elephant). Mama Mirabelle is larger than life, both literally and figuratively. She is gregarious and kindhearted as she opens up her home, the savanna, to us and her young animal friends. Mama has a great sense of humor and isn’t above gently ribbing her animal pals about their on-screen and off-screen behavior.

She patiently addresses each and every question posed by the kids, knowing when to explain and when to let the young ones figure something out for themselves. She’s traveled the world and has personally explored every type of environment in which animals live. Though best of all, she’s taken movies of all of her adventures!

Max is the youngest Max is an elephant calf and Mama Mirabelle’s son. He’s a toddler teetering on the verge of kidhood, but with one eye always on his Mama. He’s never more than two feet from her, in fact, he’s usually holding onto her tail with his trunk. Like most toddlers, Max likes hanging with the older kids and tries to become involved in their activities, whether he’s welcome or not. He hasn’t yet figured out that just because he’s physically bigger than older animals such as Bo and Karla, he’s not as mature emotionally and intellectually.

Karla is curious Karla is a thoughtful and inquisitive zebra foal. She’s forever questioning the rules of nature, the universe, and animal behavior. She’ll not only ask why the sky is blue, but also why it’s sometimes orange, white or black. Karla idolizes Mama Mirabelle, hangs on her every word, values her opinions and seeks her advice. She aspires one day to have the authority and reputation that Mama Mirabelle has earned.

Bo loves adventures Bo is an adventurous and playful cheetah cub. A born comedian, he makes funny remarks about everything. He’s also high-energy, high-volume and high-maintenance (very much like a typical five-year-old boy), a real handful for Mama Mirabelle. The only problem is he never likes to admit there’s something he doesn’t know.

Our funny monkey trio Flip, Kip and Chip (the monkeys): This trio of triplet monkeys is constantly trying to make the animals laugh. The monkeys are identical except for their “hairdos”.

Flip is the athletic type. He’s always doing gymnastics up in the branches of the “tree of life.” He almost never misses his mark, unless Kip decides to grease down one of the vines.

Kip is a bit of a practical joker. If, while dining on some tree leaves, Mama and Max find that something won’t let go of her trunk, odds are, it’s Kip.

Chip loves to eat. Other than that, well...he loves to eat. If he doesn’t eat enough, he can be a bit grumpy.
