Paper Bag Puppets
Follow these instructions to assemble your paper bag animal puppets.
What you need
- Save a brown paper lunch bag and re-use it for your puppet
- Glue
- Scissors
- Markers or crayons
- An adult helper
- Optional - googly eyes, pipe cleaners for whiskers, tail, or antennae, colored string for hair
What to do
To create a paper bag puppet, follow these simple steps:
- Choose your animal and print out the pages
- Color all the animal body parts and then cut them out. You may want to ask your adult helper for help cutting!
- Use glue to attach the various animal body parts to the brown paper lunch bag. The face parts should go on the bag flap (bottom of the bag).
- Think about what the animal looks like and refer to the image of the completed puppet to see proper part placement.
Take It Further
While you are assembling your paper bag puppet, think about:
- Where does your animal live? Would you like to live where this animal does?
- How does your animal move? Can you move like that?
- What kind of sounds does your animal make? Try making one!
- What makes your animal special? How is your animal puppet different from the other animal puppets?
