Farmer; Farm: a farmer is a person who works on a farm, which is a place where people can cultivate crops and raise animals for food
- There are many different kinds of farms.
- There are many features of farms and words associated with farms, such as barn, crop, different kinds of animals, tractor, hay, and others.
- You can add "-er" to "farm" to make "farmer," a person who farms; you can add "-er" to many other words to make new words that refer to people who do something (such as teacher, helper, et cetera).
- A "farm" (noun) is the place where people grow crops and raise animals; "to farm" (verb) means to cultivate land for crops and to raise animals for food.
- Compound words with "farm" are farmhand, farmhouse, and farmland.
Barn: a building on a farm where animals can stay at night, or where a farmer can store farming supplies
- Some parts of a barn are loft (or hayloft), stables, stall, doors and silo.
- A compound word is barnyard.
Typewriter; Type: a typewriter is a machine used for printing; to type is to use such a machine for writing
- Manual typewriters and electric typewriters have many features in common, but also some differences.
- Parts of a typewriter include keys, cartridge, carriage, ink and ribbon.
- "Type" can be a noun, meaning the raised letters on printing machine or style of letters. It can also mean "kind" or "sort," referring to things that go together because of common qualities.
