Content Studies

Content studies are small, relatively short tests of whether and what children learn from exposure to and interaction with a single property’s videos, games, and activities.

  • Odd Squad: Learning Math with PBS KIDS Transmedia Content at School and at Home (WestEd, 2015)

This study tested the promise of using an Odd Squad math intervention on enhancing first grade students’ math knowledge and skills.

  • Learning Math with Curious George (WestEd, 2014)

This study explores that extent to which children can learn mathematics from relatively unmediated use of the Curious George’s Busy Day transmedia suite at learning stations in the preschool classroom.

  • Peg + Cat Content Study (EDC/SRI, 2014)

This study explores the extent to which children can learn mathematics from direct engagement with Peg+Cat outside of instructional environments and without adult support or mediation.
