Do you do a "solo sport"? What do you like about it? How can other kids get involved?

Unfortunately, these pages are no longer accepting new posts. We are so proud of the IML community for creating such a wonderful place to exchange stories, opinions, and advice. Here's what other kids had to say:

Lacrosse is so much fun! You can play on a team or with yourself. Throwing the ball up and catching it yourself is a wonderful way to test your skills!

Skiing could go either way. Solo, yeah, but if you're on a ski team, (like me) then it could be a team thing. Although ski racing is entirely solo.

what is solo soccr?

i play disc golf and just two or three weeks ago i got third place in the junior division!!!! p.s. way more kids should play in tournaments and/or just play in general.

I used to do swimming lessons with my school (but only the Grade 5/6 classes), but I stopped after I split my toenail in swimming.

i love solo sports because it shows how good u r

I love to play tennis, singles and doubles. It feels great to slam a serve right into the corner of the service box!

I LLLLLOOOOOVVVVVEEE to swim and i started swimming last summer and i was the slowest person in the 9-10's. (our age group) and i started swimming in the winter and i was still slow and then i was sick of being slow so i pushed myself and i became really fast. now im as fast as my friend who is really fast. So you can do almost anything if you believe in yourself!!!!!!

i do solo soccer it is a fun thing

I have done nordic combined for 5 years now. Nordic combined is a combination of ski jumping and cross country skiing. I really think that the training I have done, the friends I have made, and the experiences I have had from this are one of the most important things shaping who I am today. Through nordic combined, I have learned self-discipline, how to lose, how to win, and what it means to be an athlete. I have learned to listen to my body and how to overcome fear. I believe that this sport has made me a better friend, a better athlete, and a better person.

I am a gymnast and have been doing gymnastics since I was 3. Because gymnastics is a solo sport there is a LOT of pressure on me ALL the time. Sometimes that sets me off but I keep going anyway. It is really hard, especially because I am an Elite gymnast, but I know that in the end all the hard work is worth it.

I love swimming! I'm like a sea otter because , I basically have gills.

(First post- oh yeah) I the 1600 (mile) in track. Even though I mostly lose, but I've gone to all four meets (most people only get to go to one or two) and then today I ran a 5k for a fundraiser.
