What's the toughest part of going through puberty? How do you deal with it?

Unfortunately, these pages are no longer accepting new posts. We are so proud of the IML community for creating such a wonderful place to exchange stories, opinions, and advice. We hope you'll check out all the great comments that have already been posted, and that we'll be able to take new submissions again in the future.

Here's what other kids had to say:

Hello dear IML'ers! Hope everyone's having a good summer. We have some sad news today. :-( Due to a shift in focus away from tweens, PBS funding for It's My Life updates has been discontinued until further notice. This includes moderating the You Said It pages. It's devastating to us at IML because we love what we do. We fought hard to keep these pages available to you guys who rely on them and make them so great, and haven't given up yet. We're still out there, looking for more funding. In the meantime, no new YSI posts will be approved, unfortunately. We hope that changes soon. Keep your fingers crossed for us and stay in touch! Any questions, email us at itsmylife@pbs.org and we will do our best to answer.

i don't know how to impress a girl i live 2 houses down from her and i see her a lot but i dan't know how to get her
--iliveinca

Toughest part of puberty? There is no such thing cause they're about the same. Liking the opposite sex can be difficult but all you need to do is talk with them and see what you have in common. If it goes well, and you have a good feeling, then ask them out(don't be ashamed to make the first move). If you want to make it really traditional, you can ask her dad first. And, maybe go to dinner with her family and have your best behavior. If it goes well, and if she is ok with it you can be gf and bf. Make sure you have some chivalry, as in hold her books, open the door for her, etc. It really makes a difference because it means that you care about her. *Just don't overdo it too much! Also, try not to be really fake. Don't change your style or your personality because that will just turn her off and make her think that this relationship isn't serious.Thats pretty much it! Hope I helped! P.S. I'm a girl if you didn't read my user name.

The toughest part was acne, but that didn't last very long. Aussieboy13 could not have said it better about the ages of puberty in Australia. The best part was the height/strength spurt, now I'm 6'3" with abs.

There is this girl who knows I like her and her grandfather just died. I get really nervous around girls and I went to the visitation and she was there, my dad is a pastor and the family prayed with our family, I had not spoke to her at all. She looked really upset; she looked at me and started crying. I think she wanted to at least talk to me. She was not at school today, I won't be tomorrow, and the weekend is then. So monday what do I say cause I'm sure she will be mad at me.

I just turned 13, and I was with my friends at the pool. I was the only one without armpit hair, and they made fun of me for it. What should I do?

@13yearold, I realize you like her and things, but you first should find out more things about her and try to be her friend so she gets used to you. (Also, try flirting a little bit). If you feel like your getting a weird vibe from her like she doesn't like you that way then you should just be friends. If you think she likes you back then you can ask her out. If you want to make it really traditional, you can ask her dad first. And, maybe go to dinner with her family. And when she says that you can date, make sure you have some chivalry, as in hold her books, open the door for her, etc. It really makes a difference because it means that you care about her. *Just don't overdo it too much! Also, try not to be really fake. Don't change your style or your personality because that will just turn her off and make her think that this relationship isn't serious. *But do take a shower once in awhile! Thats pretty much it! Hope I helped!

im 11 male, we have puberty class tomorrow. im the tallest kid in my class i dont think ive started puberty yet.
--TTOM11

The hardest part for me was going through puberty WAY before everybody else. I'm only 13 and I passed my dad in height last year (he's 5'10'') and I'm 6'2'' now. I have hair on my arms, legs, around my penis, armpits, chest, and face. I shave every day, and sometimes twice a day! My voice is also REALLY deep. It's embarrassing, but nobody really makes fun of me for it because they're scared because I'm bigger than them.
--nyasadude

@Bradfea, it doesn't matter what culture or religion or whatever is different. Just go with your own beliefs. My crush is Hispanic, and I'm white. He likes me too, and it's not because of my skin color or culture. Just ask her out, man! No harm is done, unless it really affects you with her answer, if you ask her.
--LizBethGrace

This poor guy had this really deep voice and then he sounded like a chipmunk. and he has awesome eyes. And im not telling my gender, but the eyes part probably gives it away.........huffpuff. *evil laugh*
--CaptainNemo

I haven't really started it yet. I may be tall, but I don't think it's a growth spurt as I grow about two/three inches per year.
