Do you think there's too much pressure in the media to look a certain way?

Here's what other kids had to say:

Hello dear IML'ers! Hope everyone's having a good summer. We have some sad news today. :-( Due to a shift in focus away from tweens, PBS funding for It's My Life updates has been discontinued until further notice. This includes moderating the You Said It pages. It's devastating to us at IML because we love what we do. We fought hard to keep these pages available to you guys who rely on them and make them so great, and haven't given up yet. We're still out there, looking for more funding. In the meantime, no new YSI posts will be approved, unfortunately. We hope that changes soon. Keep your fingers crossed for us and stay in touch! Any questions, email us at itsmylife@pbs.org and we will do our best to answer.

theres this girl in my estate her name is Angela shes mean to me ane sometimes insults me.shes bad and says bad words.i never care what she says shes fat here self and ugly.

Hey PockyChan i'm not korean but i do like to listen to kpop to!! do you like bands super junior ,big bang shinee

i suite life on deck is'nt on any more but once threy was this boy named woody and he was over whiegt and every one on the show would make fun of his whieght and i thought that was mean and steroype

Purplesparky, I think that's a bit much, isn't it? Gymnastics isn't a 'girly sport' and frankly I think that's a bit sexist don't you think? Girls can already play football or gymnastics or cheer leading, I have been in gymnastics 7 years and I love it. Maybe people are making you believe this, because this isn't true.

I'm both shy and hyper. At first I appear shy because I have things known as Arguphobia and Agoraphobia, the fear of men and abuse. But then I get all crazy, especially lately on the Favorite Celebs and What's On Your Mind, if you know what I'm talking about. ;D

Boys-----Must be vidoe game freaks. If ya don't play the latest games, then you're a dweeb. You gotta be able to play then well, too,or you're a sissy. You can't stay inside reading books all day:ya gotta own an airsoft gun or AT LEAST a Nerf to be cool when playing outside. Girls-----Be thin,smooth-skinned,wide-hipped and big bust.Ya gotta have a BF--But seriously? You have to be in a relationship to be WORTH SOMETHING according to the media? I don't think that's right. You have to either be unnaturally hyper or you're shy...(although I'm naturally hyper, but I dot overdo it ;D) If you're shy, people automatically think you're not worth their time. But maybe you're the shy one if u don't wanna come out of your shell to approach them???

I miss Lizzie McGuire, where's the Miranda I always connected so much to, especially in Inner Beauty? ;__________;

If barbie was scaled up to be 5'7, she wouldn't be able to have a baby because she'd be to thin. Hey girls, be that thin, it's the only way to be cool! From: The Media. GGGGGRRRRRR I HHHHHHAAAAAATTTTTEEEE THEEEEE MEEEEEEDDDDDDIIIIIIAAAAA!!!!!!!!

The media stinks. It just pressures girls to look like Barbies, and it's such a shame when there are young girls with eating disorders and wearing tons of makeup, trying to be like the media wants them to be!!!

Yes. There's too much emphasis on looking thin (for girls). I'm not sure about boys...I'm a girl and I don't see a lot for boys. I also think there's some sexist things in the media, a little agism, and some racism. But I think it's gotten better in the years.

I get too many headaches in Michigan. (x'O) It's too loud. We have too humid of days. It's like March teen's and 20's and it's already up to 70's and 80's here. O.O

I like shake it up and wizards of waverly place to alot of those so i don't have cable or dish so i watch it on netflix or other ppls houses.....

RamonaGirl, I know what yuou mean. I don't watch that show (i don't get Disney Channel-I know sadness, right?) but i HAVE heard of Bella Thorne and Brigit Mendler and they're considered two of my favorite actresses. BTW, Brigit Mendler is in this movie, Th Clique, based off of a book series that i sometimes enjoy reading, that is if the plotline is really good. i've seen clips of the movie and they're pretty good. They make me want to watch the entire movie with alll the special features! :)

thesenator, Disney channel, from what i recall, (i didnt watch it much when it used to be good. i know. i've been deprived.) had pretty good shows, like American Dragon: Jake Long (i watch old episodes on you tube and i still love it! and i'm in high school!). not this crud today! thereasa13, just wanted to say that i agree with ur comment. Makeupgrl, hahaha! ur comment made me laugh! i love it! purplesparky, there's this song called "Anthem" by superchick. go watch it on you tube! it's a pretty descent song. anyway, you're comment reminded me of it.

I'm starting to hate hate HATE Shake It Up. I used to think it was a cool show, and I saw the premiere once Hannah Montana ended. The music I found catchy, but now... it's without a doubt gone downhill. Not only do they make miserable 'jokes' on having an eating disorder, but the clothes have changed, the music's changed, the show's more like So Random, just showing guest stars a billion times who don't even belong on the show- and the characters have changed. I used to love Rocky, she seemed to be super nice for accepting Cece the way she is. But as more episodes keep going on, Rocky is a jerk to me, saying weird things about her so called friend. In my opinion Bella Throne is too underrated for my tastes, and she's just left in the dust. Zendaya was singing most of Watch Me, and then the Pixie Hollow Games, finally Swag It Out. Bella Throne is considered a robot, but she and Bridgit Mendlar need more attention.

i always get called gay because i hang out with girls.but they are just jealouse that alot of girls like me

Yes! Girls are being pressured to be skinny and "perfect." Boys are being pressured to being only boys and playing with "boy toys." Girls are being pressured to playing cheerleading, gymnastics, and other "girly" sports. Girls should play football, and any other rough sport. Shout Out to all you girls out there who don't care what others think!!!

Yes me and my friend (he's a guy) said that agreed that we spent our whole life trying to be like everyone else so when it came to a writing assignment we had nothing to write about.

totally! personally though, i don`t care because i belive this is how GOD whanted me 2 b !
