"I was at a party with my brothers high school friends (I was in 7th grade, so I thought that was so cool) and I almost had a drink. I know that everyone is like "Just say No!", and "Alcohol is retarded I'm never gonna give in" or something like that, but being in that situation is tougher than it sounds. I always thought I could just say no and that's that, but not even close. I denied at first, but then my brother's friends went insane and one put their knee between my shoulder blades and tried to shove a can up my mouth (I know that makes me sound totally wimpy, but it was one tiny 12 year old against 3 15 year old drunk jocks) Luckily, somebody called the cops, otherwise...Something bad would have happened, I'm sure..."

"What is with alcohol anyway? It doesn't do any thing to help you except for it doesn't freeze. So yeah it can help to keeps your electronics and car from freezing, but why put it in your body? You're like just getting yourself ready to die sooner. Who invented alcohol? who ever it was I would like to give them a piece of my mind. If they knew what they did in the world by inventing a drink that is bad for you and yet tastes really good to some people, I would like to know what they thought or did to themselves. If it weren't for alcohol we wouldn't have so many crazy people around here. Sure there still would be people like that but not as many. Same as if they didn't invent drugs. If there were no drugs or alcohol in the world I bet it would be such a nice place with the occasional things like deaths from murderers, and suicide, and drunks, and thugs, and sicknesses, and so many other things that might happen often but not too often. So I wish we could get rid of drunkenness and drugs once and for all! Away with all this. That includes smoking too! And I have to totally agree with Shoshanna age12 about drugs and my dad doesn't drink. Plus I am also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I believe in the first article of Faith, "We believe in Christ the Eternal Father, and in His son, Jesus Chris, and in the Holy Ghost." and they tell me and my family that drinking is wrong. Even just a little every now and again. And caffeine is also bad for you and that's the only type of drink that is not good for you health wise not including sugar, which my parents drink. And they barely even drink that. Sorry for taking your time to criticize alcohol, drugs, and caffeine but I do have a right to speak up. I shall end what my dad calls a speech of criticism."

"I quite agree with Jazmine (age 13). Drinking alcohol is fine for adults IF they drink in moderation. Now, when they get drunk and drive on the highway and run over some poor soul, that's a problem. They could get diseases that could affect their lungs, heart, brain, or liver. They could get in trouble with the police, and end up in a tiny cell for a long time. But my dad drinks a glass of wine every now and then, and he's not a criminal. He's not bed-ridden in a hospital. In fact, he's one the nicest and healthiest person that I know of. Drinking wine/beer/etc. Is reserved for only adults because if children were to start drinking, there'd be a million times more drink/drive problems, but they think most adults are responsible enough to set a limit. And I think that is common sense. I am a believer in Christ. My opinion on alcohol in a nutshell is that people shouldn't be allowed to drink until they can set limits to their actions and they mature; not just when they turn 21..."

When I went on vacation to Rwanda, I met my uncle. He drives a bus, and his son and daughter live with my grandmother. He decided to take us to a beach on his day off, so he did. He ordered 6 bottles of beer and drank them all, and on top of it he smoked. When I told him he shouldn't do it in front of his 2-year-old son, he laughed and blew smoke out of this mouth right in my face. He was drunk when he drove us to my gm's house. The next Day my sister caught my 2-year-old cousin trying to smoke by putting the cigarette in his mouth and pulling it out. I'm scared about what kind of person he's going to be. Since he's the only boy in the home, his dad is his role model. My mom decided were going to adopt him and bring him to North America to live with us.

My mother has a glass on very special occasions, sometimes not even on Christmas. I don't think shes ever had more than a glass in her life. Then, there is my Dad. A while ago I had major problem with drugs and alcohol. I would come home wasted almost every night and my parents didn't do a thing about it. But one day my friend Maddie 'kidnapped' me and took me to an after school program called Getting over it. It was all about kids my age with drinking and drug problems. At first I just thought that the whole thing was bogus, but after a while I paid attention to the things the stuff was doing to my body. Yeah I have braces. I got them two years ago, and I hated them. They were painful at first, and I thought they made me look bad when I smiled. But I've gotten used to them since then and I can't even tell that they're there. One thing I still can't stand about them though is that a lot of times when you bite into food the food gets stuck in between your brackets under the wires and you have to stink the food out otherwise it's really noticeable, and uncomfortable.

But I think that everyone on here is in the age range from 8-18 so I say that if you or anyone U know has a drinking problem at such a young age they need help and fast! Alcohol and Drugs are the hardest things to say no to, but you have to learn that youre not alone. A lot of people say no to alcohol. Drinking at a young age is very bad for you, and your body. Just stay away from the drugs and alcohol, and dont hang out with them when they drink, and dont chill with Chelsea when shes smoking. Stay away from it. Youre not cool when you drink or smoke. My cousin smokes, not only cigars and cigarettes but weed and pot and other drugs!!! I MISS HIM, he used to be all-nice and let me do everything. Well, I first off would like to state that many of the responses here seem to be question the reasons for drinking and asking why people do it. I am only 10 years old but since I have always been fascinated with altered states ( although I have been quite cautious regarding experiencing them ) I have tried alcohol a few times. I find alcohol is a very general drug. Don't for a second think that it is not a drug as being drunk has a notable effect on the brain just like drugs do. Anyways, it produces relaxed feelings and that alone can entice people to it as that feeling subjectively could be viewed as a high , especially to people seeking an escape as alcohol can block out thoughts and therefore you may TEMPORARILY not be bothered by negative aspects of your life. Do I think alcohol is bad? NO. Do I think youth should use it? Well, I believe what is safe for people to experience fluctuates from, person to person. And given the power of alcohol, and the more often than not negative results of it being abused by people my age and even a bit older, I would say it would be to societies benefit to keep it out of the hands of youth. I believe Europe has fair laws in that in general 16 - 18 is the set drinking age. I think 18 would be most appropriate though...

I know beer and alcohol is bad but once I had a sip. I was at least 4 or 5. It was either at my little sisters birthday or mine. I was temped by a shiny can of beer on the couchs arm rest ( I thought it was coke). Little being able to read I reached out and took a sip lucky there was only a drop. IT TASTED HORABLE! In school we're learning about the human body, which includes drugs, and the number one killer in teens is alcohol because they drive drunk and a lot of people think it's cool, but it destroys organs like your liver and kidneys and even though you can live without 80% of your liver, (you only need 20% to survive) it's still really bad, and a lot of things you wouldn't think of as drugs like depressants and a lot of people drink alcohol to get warm but it's actually taking heat from their body and you shouldn't drink it to get warm. People drink and smoke to make themselves feel better but in reality it's getting worse. Alcohol is actually NOT an illegal drug; it's legal for adults to use it. Not while they are driving, but they are allowed. Police can test for drinking.

One of my parents is a Dry alcoholic. When someone becomes an alcoholic they can't stop being one. It's like a disease that you can only slow down. My uncle used to drink at night when I was 9, and boy did he ever get mad at me when I asked him to lower down the TV volume!!! That is one of the ways people react when they get drunk. I'm glad he stopped!!!!

First of all, Robert you rule! second my parents would drink (23 years ago, before the married) then they took Alcohol Anonymous now they don't drink, smoke or anything none of my four brothers and sisters plan to. My mum drinks because she gets mad at my dad because we're Jewish. They're getting divorced in a week. I feel so depressed and have to go to therapy. Plus at school I have to see the counselor. What's really sad is that I have to stay with my mum and I don't like my (future) stepdad. He drinks a little too. They don't like me being Jewish. I've actually started to drink a little.

My ex-friend Maegan, she smokes and drinks. It makes me so terribly sad and miserable to see her puff. I see her offer cigarettes to her friends, but never to me, I respect that, she knows I will get mad if she ever offered me one of those cigarettes. Because of me, she quit, she told me I'm her miracle, today I see her a beautiful blonde! I love her.

Everyone should just wait until they are 21 until drinking. It is the best way to avoid any problems. And it isn't that hard to do. Also, do things in moderation and you will never be an alcoholic and you will have nothing to ever worry about. Alcohol isn't inherently bad; abuse of it is.

Well, my friends like to drink a lot. I don't though. I think they're pretty much wasted a lot of the time, but I don't think they have problems. But one time, they had alcohol at school and that was pretty stupid, even though they didn't get caught.

My parent's friends drink every
