The Ready To Learn Grant: Communities

Grant Outreach

The Ready To Learn initiative is on the move!

PBS KIDS Raising Readers, which is funded by a U.S. Department of Education Ready To Learn grant, uses the power of public media to build reading skills for children ages two-to-eight, especially those from low-income families. Twenty local PBS stations are building partnerships and helping to test and develop models to provide caregivers, teachers and parents with access to engaging research-based, multi-platform content, activities, and tools specifically designed to improve children’s reading skills. This “Literacy 360” approach surrounds children with opportunities to read, and engage parents, teachers and communities in the effort.
