History Detectives, a television series from PBS in its fourth season, consists of ten new captivating episodes. Each episode presents three new and intriguing mysteries to explore. The hosts of the program are a high-energy quartet of renowned experts in the world of historical investigations.
As each show unfolds, viewers of all ages may find themselves completely caught up in the search for clues that can solve the mystery - and perhaps reveal amazing facts about our nation's past.
Each investigation of these "puzzles from the past" could follow dozens of different paths. As the detectives work, they provide viewers with reasoned explanations for choosing specific avenues of research. When the detectives use scientific tests, both the purpose and the methods are described in detail. History Detectives is a great show for learning the ins and outs of historical investigation.
On the Web
The History Detectives Kids site includes information
and activities for the very youngest detectives. Geared towards kids
ages 8-12, The History Detective Kids Web site encourages critical
thinking, inquiry, problem solving, dramatic play and fun through
learning. Kids can learn the golden rules of super sleuthing, use
customizable printed forms to make their own detective notebook and
office suite, play games and submit treasured object for inclusion
in our "Vault".
Content on the site helps Parents and Teachers integrate History Detectives
themes and content into experiential learning activities and play
opportunities for children.
