Directions Imagine with your child that a favorite character from the series e.g. Max is lost. How can he find his way back home? Once your child has helped Max get home, imagine how Max and your child together can help other lost creatures. Talk About It Ask your child questions to help him find where an animal may belong. What does ‘home’ look like? If a bird is lost would it look in the water or trees for its shelter? Discuss the range of animal habitats and the animals that live in them. Where does a mouse like to live and why does it like it there? Who likes to live in a cave and why? What animals live in the water? Take It Further Next time you go for a walk with your child, observe the different animals you come across together. Ask your child to try and guess where they like to live. You can extend the conversation further by discussing where you and your child live. Talk about your shelter and what’s special about it: a place to sleep, a place to prepare food, stairs, elevator, windows etc. Together you can practice writing and/or describing where you live and making a fun address tag for your child’s books or backpack. Ask your child to make you an address tag.
