Ruff Ruffman is a dog who dreams big dreams — and not just because he sleeps a lot. After all, not every dog winds up hosting its own reality game show: it took vision, ambition, and a resume that conveniently didn't mention he was a dog. And now Ruff is where he was always destined to be — in over his head. But when the going gets tough, Ruff is always cool, calm, and collected...for about five seconds. The rest of the time he's managing one disaster after another with the serenity of a Chihuahua.
When not hosting his show, Ruff can be found doing yoga (or to be more accurate, he can be found stuck in a yoga pose and ready to be rescued), or cooking new and exciting recipes (which, after one bite, usually leads to a Chinese take-out order), or maybe you'll find him in front of a mirror practicing his acceptance speech for a major award (not that he's won a major award yet, but he likes to be prepared).
And although he may come across as a world-renowned artist, a dog of mystery, a canine genius, (or at least he comes across that way in his autobiography), the truth is, underneath it all, Ruff is just an old softie who loves every one of the contestants on his show and wishes they all could win.
When Blossom von Yum Yum was promoted to "Show Supervisor," Ruff advertised for a new assistant who would be provided a home in lieu of pay. Chet was hired before his interview was even over! This is because Chet left the interview in the middle of Ruff's sentence, found a mousehole in the FETCH 3000, and moved in before Ruff could stop him.
So who is Chet? He doesn't talk, and he's rather private, but here's what Ruff knows: 1) Chet throws a very popular party. Ruff knows this because Ruff is frequently woken up in the wee hours by the sounds of a mariachi band or jazz combo coming from Chet's mousehole. Inevitably, in the morning, there is confetti, party hats, and oniondipwithmousetracksinit everywhere. 2) Ruff is never invited to these parties. 3) Chet has a very classily furnished pad, with clean modern lines and an incredible stereo system. Ruff isn't jealous, but he does peer into that hole with wonder and bafflement, before Chet slams the door on his snout. Okay, Ruff is jealous. 4) Chet has demonstrated the ability to build an airplane engine that runs solely on expired Ruffman Pineappleand LiverBiscuit Shake. He's also an expert sheepherder. That said, the jury is still out on whether Chet knows English or understands the concepts of "being an assistant," or "reality." 5) On Chet's business card is written the word "Chet," and also...well, actually, no, that's it.
Working behind the scenes at Fetch, with Ruff Ruffman is clearly a demanding and complex job. So Ruff is morethanwilling to continue to let Chet "grow" into the job. Besides, he's kinda stuck with him.
Princess Blossom Pepperdoodle von Yum Yum (but you can just call her "Blossom") was one of eight kittens in her litter. However, she distinguished herself right away by writing a thankyou note to her mother for giving birth to her. The note showed excellent penmanship and was executed on plain but tasteful stationery.
Living in the household of the niece of Henry (the head of the local tv station), Blossom showed a keen interest at an early age in television. She was very excited when she found out she was going to be an intern on Fetch with Ruff Ruffman, because she'd finally be able to have the firsthand experience she cravedlearning how a smooth, welloiled, thoughtfullyplannedout, ultraorganized, alwaysonbudget show such as Fetch is made.
Now that she's been working for Ruff for several weeks....she's still waiting for that experience. In fact, she's still a little traumatized by her first days on the job, haunted by memories of exploding plumbing, a squawking parrot, and being buried in a truckload of maraschino cherries.
However, the everresourceful Blossom isn't easily daunted. Whether it's finding a better filing system, or wrangling fifty runaway lobsters, Blossom will help out as much as she can, and she'll probably stick it out for the whole season (depending on how many more times Ruff breaks out into song).
Each episode of FETCH! follows one or more of the six contestants as they embark on mystery assignments to test their determination, their daring, and their intellect. Every season the contestants change.
His teachers call him Demetrius, but his peeps call him DJ! DJ dislikes okra and beets, but loves broccoli and lobster. DJ loves rap music, and he and his entire family enjoy singing. He wants to be a mathematician when he grows up because he loves math. DJ can also bend his thumb so it touches the back of his hand.
Harsha once owned a hermit crab whose shell had blue, purple and pink polka dots. Harsha doesn't think she has "two left feet," but she doesn't have "two awesome feet" either. Harsha loves to argue and thinks she'd make a pretty good defense lawyer. She likes to tap things when she gets nervous.
Jay says he's a good dancer but doesn't know how to dance. Jay can't do a split anymore, but he can still do a flip on a trampoline. Jay is an awesome lacrosse player, and loves to play the bass guitar with his older brother. If he were a superhero, his name would be Psyshock.
Noël usually signs her name with two little dots over the "e." When asked about her favorite sport, Noël says, "I like ballet. And ballet is a sport!" Noël likes being a cheerleader, writing stories, and lip-synching to the radio. Noël also enjoys stretching, but when people see her stretch they sometimes think it's grotesque.
Sam has a dog, named Bugsy, who is not very bright. Sam loves to produce and edit wacky movies with his friends and post them online. He once ate the lining of a cow's stomach and thought it wasn't that bad. Sam loves to listen to classic rock, especially the band The Who.
Sammy once had a Fear Factor party where her guests had to eat chocolate-covered hot dogs (but she refuses to eat grape jelly). Sammy once zipped over the forest in Costa Rica and estimates it was about "a zillion feet high." She has an unusually long tongue and can touch it to her nose. Sammy's best subject in school is science.
