When Ruff dug up a sarcophagus (stone coffin) in his backyard, he was convinced it had an authentic Egyptian mummy inside, and he was also convinced it came with a curse!
The FETCHers were split into three teams to figure out what the deal was with the sarcophagus and try to reverse the mummy's curse.
The Orange team took the lid of the sarcophagus to the Museum of Fine Arts for an x-ray. Shreya and Jay saw modern-day staples in the lid's x-ray and concluded that the sarcophagus lid wasn't realand neither was the curse!
The Yellow team learned about Carbon-14 dating, which is a way to figure out an object's age. Emmie and Marc measured the amount of C-14 left in the mummy. A real mummy would have 60-70% of C-14 left in it, but there was about 100% C-14 in the mummy that Ruff found. That meant the mummy wasn't old and wasn't authentic!
The Blue team also went to the Museum of Fine Arts, where Marco and Rubye deciphered the hieroglyphics that were on the outside of the coffin. They read: "FINAL RESTING PLACE 186 BROOKLINE."
All the FETCHers met up at 186 Brookline Avenue, where they explored Pharaoh's tomb and solved riddlesproving themselves as warriors and scholars!
Bluff Ruffman called and explained that he planted the sarcophagus in the backyard as a promotion for his beef jerky!
Then it was back to Studio G for the Triumph Tally:
Shreya, Jay, Emmie, and Marc scored:
Rubye and Marco scored:
BUT: "Is that all the beef jerky a dog can eat?"
Today's 5 bonus points went to the FETCHer who knew that a good mummy adventure wasn't complete without a great scream: Emmie! This brought her to 90 points and made her the day's daily winner! She won an ancient Egyptian necklace that spelled out "Emmie" in hieroglyphics.
