As soon as Glotchens are born, they use their wings to fly to another tree. The female attaches to the tree permanently and eats nothing for the rest of her life. The male searces for a mate and mosquitoes to eat. It never drinks a drop of water. Once the female finds a mate, they mate, and then the female eats her mate. Once the female lays the eggs, she dies, and the eggs stay safely in the thiick nest of green Glotchen silk until they hatch.
