This Week:

4,544 FETCHers each used, on average, 12 kilowatt hours of electricity.

If each of these kids used just 5 fewer kWh of electricity each week, FETCHers would save 22,720 kWh in a week. That's enough energy to power 738 houses for 1 day.

So, how can you power down?

  • Don't unplug your refrigerator, big appliances or alarm clocks.
  • Turn out the lights when you leave the room.
  • Replace incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs.
  • Think of ways to use electronics or appliances less than you do now.
  • Turn off the TV when no one's watching it.
  • Turn off your computer when you're not using it.
  • Don't leave electronics plugged in unless you're using them.
  • User power strips to make powering-down vampire electronics easier
