The EekoWorld Family guide includes a series of ten engaging family projects and activities. The goal of the projects and activities is to help family members develop a lifelong appreciation, understanding, and care for the environment.
The activities do not have to be done in any particular order. If you think that you need or want to acquire some background information on the environment, you might begin by taking some of the online quizzes included in the What Do I Know? activity. The activities are designed to provide an avenue for parents to help their children between the ages of six and nine learn about the important role they can play in taking care of the earth. Although the guide was designed for children in this age group, we encourage you to include all family members in the activities. Many of the activities include suggestions on ways to extend the projects to family, neighbors, and community members. The goal of the EekoWorld Family Guide's content is to encourage and reinforce the following themes:
- People can make positive changes in the environment through their actions.
- People understand that their individual actions can have an impact on the environment.
- Encourage family discussions of environmental and conservation issues.
- Encourage children to become involved observers of the natural world around them.
- The earth is a place of wondrous natural beauty, and we are its caretakers.
