Directions:
Ask your child if he would like to help you tell a story. Make a friend or sibling the main character of the story. Make the plot of the story a situation that has occurred in your child's daily routine.

Begin the story by saying, "Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Sara. Sara had a big brother named Simon. Sara loved to follow her big brother around. She wanted to do everything he did. She wanted to play with all his toys. But Simon didn't like this. He grabbed the toys away from Sara. He yelled at her."

Ask your child to think about how the main character felt. "How do you think Sara felt when Simon yelled at her? How do you think she felt when he grabbed the toys away? What would make Sara feel better?"

Encourage your child to think of an ending for your story.
