Plus, the site is full of immediate ideas for hands-on science activities that kids love to do, both online and offline.
On the DragonflyTV Web site, kids can play online science games, read what other kids did on the show, take part in nationwide science experiments, download a copy of the DragonflyTV Science Journal, and -- best of all -- tell DragonflyTV what they're investigating!
Plus, for teachers, parents and community workshop leaders, we have Teacher's Guides , chocked full of ideas for do-it-yourself investigations.
Site Usage Tips
Before your students or children use the site:
- Since DragonflyTV is all about real kids doing real science, encourage young surfers to seek out topics they enjoy, from snakes to skateboarding to singing. By using the Search feature, kids can type in key words and see how other children are exploring and investigating their favorite activities or subjects.
- Sit down with children and walk them through the features. Many kids enjoy starting with games, but point out other cool online activities, such as Riddles, or fun offline activities, like Do Its. Explore the Show and Science Fair are also excellent "first stops" for students to peruse, especially during science fair season.
- DragonflyTV loves to hear from real kids; in fact, the show is built on their ideas and input! Whether they're discussing the real projects they're exploring, asking questions, or giving feedback on episodes, there are various spots throughout the site to communicate with DFTV staff and/or other viewers. Highlight these options, underscoring that their input could end up on the site or even on the television show!
