All over the world, there are places where people can't connect to the Internet. Soon, Sri Lanka will become the first country with internet connection everywhere! That’s because Sri Lanka, which is an island country next to India, has partnered with Google to make this dream come true. Later this year, Google will bring Wi-Fi to the whole country using thirteen giant balloons that will float high in the sky. The balloons will receive Wi-Fi signals from stations on the ground, bounce these signals to other balloons, and spread Wi-Fi across the country.
This project will help many people in Sri Lanka. Right now, only one out of five people in the country has access to the Internet. If Google’s balloons work like they should, then every person in Sri Lanka will be able to go online. That means that they will be able to connect to all the websites, videos, games, and information that the Internet has to offer.
