Will the youth vote make a difference?
Who knows? If lots of young people turn out on election day and many older people stay home, then yes…that difference could really affect the outcome. Then again, more voters in general may turn out, so while there are more young voters, they still have the same overall share of the electorate.
The important thing is that every vote counts, and history has seen What A Difference One Vote Makes. 2008 is sure to be a year where young voting voices are heard!
If someone you know is 18 or over who’s eligible to vote and has not yet registered, encourage him or her to go for it…it may not be too late! For information on registration and state-by-state voter registration deadlines, visit RockTheVote.com.
