National parks are taken care of by the National Park Service.
Using money from the federal government, the National Park Service preserves historic places, monuments, and special natural resources like forests and mountains. Park rangers in national parks can teach you about history and wildlife in the parks. Some examples of national parks are: Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Independence Hall, Smoky Mountains, and the Washington Monument.
State parks are funded through state tax money. Like national parks, state parks protect historic places and outdoor areas. Many state parks have places for picnics, trails to hike, camping areas, or lakes to go boating.
Local parks are found in your community. Many local parks have playgrounds, sport fields, or pools. People in your city or town can use local parks as places to relax, have special events, or play in a sporting league. Local parks provide safe places for kids to play.
