Together with your child, use two large sheets of construction paper, one brown and one green, to create a large tree. Help your child cut out a large circle from the green construction paper, making the edges jagged to look like leaves. Next, cut a tree-trunk shape out of the brown paper. Place the green circle on the top of the tree trunk and hang on a wall.
Print out the Build a House (PDF). Explain to your child that he will be building and decorating his very own treehouse. Point out the drawing at the bottom of the paper. Tell him that the drawing is his "plan." He should make his treehouse look like it does in the plan.
Provide your child with scissors and tape/glue. With your supervision, have him cut out all of the pieces on the worksheet. He should have four pieces to assemble (front of house, roof, door, window). Instruct him to tape or glue his pieces together to match the plan.
Once he has taped his house together, provide markers or crayons for him to decorate his house. Encourage him to be creative and colorful.
Place completed house on the tree wall that you completed earlier. Now your child has made his very own "tree" house!
