SHARE AND SHARE ALIKE (Episode 118b)
The Community Center is having a book drive and the student who collects the most books will win a full set of Sarah Solver mysteries. Determined to win, Nina comes up with the perfect action plan for her and her teammates, Emily Elizabeth and Shun. But when the big day comes, she comes down with a bad cold and is unable to participate. Using Nina's plan, Shun and Emily Elizabeth set out without her and end up winning the set of mystery books. In the end, they realize that it was Nina's plan that enabled them to collect the record number of books, and they decide to share the prize with her.
Ideas to Grow On: Share
Children learn the value of sharing by practice! By experiencing fun opportunities to share a task or something special, children become more open to include others in their own fun. The following activities nurture:
- understanding and appreciating diversity skills
- physical and motor skills
- social and emotional skills
Help your child start a personal collection of cultural memorabilia. Include books, pictures, toys, fabric, dress, musical instruments, and art. Organize objects on a display shelf and write short descriptions and thoughts about everything in a special book.
Share a kite with your child for some fun high flying! Discuss safety issues like avoiding electric lines, being alert to weather conditions, and traffic hazards that all kite enthusiasts need to consider before kiting.
With a Group:
Teach children to become part of a bigger community project by
sharing time and resources to beautify a neglected neighborhood
area. Supervise organized work times for the group throughout
the year. Prepare a sign recognizing the groups "Care-to-Share"
commitment to the neighborhood and community.
