The Car Washing Street by Denise Lewis Patrick

Every Saturday morning, Matthew and his father sit outside and watch their neighbors wash their cars. No money is spent, no distance is traveled, and nothing extraordinary happens, but it's a memorable Saturday morning. This is a lovely picture book about life as it could be, should be, and rarely is.

Watermelon Pops Watermelon Pops

Make a Saturday special by cooking together! Try these cool treats:

1 cup seedless watermelon chunks
1 cup unsweetened orange juice
1 cup water

Blend all ingredients together in a blender. Pour into small paper cups. Place in freezer and, when juice is partially frozen, insert sticks or small plastic spoons for handles. When the pops are completely frozen, unmold them by pouring hot water over bottoms of cups.
