Heroes Close to Home

Describe what heroes are and what separates them from others. Share with the child a short of list of your own heroes. Together, create a list of heroes. Choose an individual who stands out to your child (for instance, someone who always has a kind word, or a policeman who protects the neighborhood) and brainstorm ways to thank that person. Write or draw a thank you note or deliver hand-picked flowers to show your appreciation.
