PBS Kids Boohbah
Dance Like A…
Every episode of Boohbah begins with the Boohbahs doing a "Warm Up" and later includes a Boohbah dance. The movements in these segments have been carefully developed to help young children develop coordination, balance, and build motor skills by using their whole body. In many cases, the movements of the Boohbahs are based on something you have seen in the Storypeople segment. For example, they imitate a seesaw by tilting or they bounce up and down like a jack-in-the-box.

Directions
The Boohbahs imitate a seesaw by spreading out their arms and tilting back and forth. Together with your child, look around your home to see what you might imitate. What would juice going through a straw look like? Or popcorn popping in a microwave? Or curtains blowing in the breeze? Etc.

Talk About It
As a follow up, you might want to watch a performance of a ballet, either in person or on videotape. Help your child notice how the dancers make themselves look like swans or wooden soldiers or whatever they are portraying on stage.
