Cloud Gazing
Episode # 155. Little White Cloud
In a small cylinder-shaped box, the children give the Storypeople a little white cloud. Brother and Sister and Mrs. Lady play with the cloud like it is a balloon, blowing it from side to side and bouncing it off their heads. When the cloud turns stormy, they try to keep away from it's rain, but it keeps following them. Little Dog Fido knows how to stay dry. He goes into his doghouse. But the house is too little for the others, so the children give Fido a house big enough for all his friends.

Directions
Next time you and your child are someplace where you can see some clouds in the sky, take a few minutes to pause and imagination what the various clouds resemble. What kinds of shapes or things does your child see?
You may want to follow up cloud gazing with a trip to the library to find children's books about clouds. Ask your librarian if you need help finding age-appropriate books to read aloud.
Or you could follow up cloud gazing by going home and making pictures of clouds. Instead of drawing, you might let your child try to glue cotton balls to paper in the shapes they remember from your cloud gazing adventure.
Talk About It
While viewing the Little White Cloud, you might start a conversation by asking your child: "If you were Mrs. Lady, how would you stay dry?"
As you talk about the things on screen, you can help expand your child's vocabulary by alternating the words you use with their synonyms. In the Little White Cloud episode you might describe the weather under the cloud as stormy or rainy. You might also introduce your child to names for different kinds of clouds (e.g., cirrus, cumulus, etc.)
