Directions
Just for fun, find pictures of people in magazines and let your child draw on beards, mustaches, hats, earrings, or whatever else they like. You might note which pictures look like someone the child knows, e.g., "You have given that man a beard, like your Uncle has!" You might also point out that your child is giving the people in the magazine a disguise. Together, invent a story about some of the people. Why are they wearing a disguise?
Talk About It
While viewing the Beards episode, you might start a conversation by asking your child: "Does Mr. Man look silly in a beard? How about Mrs. Lady? What would you look like with a beard?"
As you talk about the things on screen, you can help expand your child's vocabulary by alternating the words you use with their synonyms. In the Beards episode you might talk about a beard being made of hair or of whiskers. You also might name specific styles, such as a goatee style beard or a handlebar mustache.
