Directions
The gentle music helps Grandmamma get to sleep. If you have a music box, show your child how to wind it without going too far. If you don't have a music box, just put on some gentle music. While the music plays, invite your child to pretend to sleep. What do people look and sound like while they sleep?
Then pretend to be various animals sleeping. What does a horse look and sound like while they are asleep? What about a cat or a dog? If you aren't sure about how a particular animal sleeps, you might research it together at the library or on the Internet.
Talk About It
While viewing the The Bed episode, you might start a conversation by asking your child: How would you help Grandmamma fall asleep? The narrator says "night, night" to Grandmamma. How do you say good night in your family?
As you talk about the things on screen, you can help expand your child's vocabulary by alternating the words you use with their synonyms. In the The Bed episode, you can say that Grandmamma rolls or tumbles down the hill.
