Directions
Grandpappa tries to tie the scarf so it stays on his head and keeps his hair in place. Show your child how she can tie a scarf. Then show her how to tie other things, like her shoes, a bow on a package, a necktie, a hair ribbon, etc. As you go through your day, take special notice of things that are held together by knots and bows.
Talk About It
While viewing the Big Comb episode, you might start a conversation by asking your child: How would you help Grandpappa make his hair look neat? What do you use to take care of your hair? Besides brushing or combing, what else do people do to take care of their hair? If you could change Grandpappa's hair, what kind of hair or hairstyle would you give him?
As you talk about the things on screen, you can help expand your child's vocabulary by alternating the words you use with their synonyms. In the Big Comb episode, you can describe what the Boohbahs do during their dance as falling or dropping.
