Share Tactics
Learn to share and play fair

Materials
  • crackers (bite-sized)
  • crayons
  • paper
Directions
Use the following activities to help your children develop the ability and willingness to share.
  1. Sharing Crayons: Give each child one piece of drawing paper. Give the group a total of six crayons. Explain that they must figure out a fair way to share the crayons. (This can also be done with just you and a child sharing the crayons.) After the children have drawn their pictures, they can show and tell how they decided to share the crayons.
  1. A Fair Share: Give your children a bowl of bite-sized crackers. (Make it enough for each child to have three, but don't tell them.) Ask your children to find a way to share the snack fairly. Afterwards, have your children explain their solution.
Talk About It
Ask: Why do you think it is important to know how to share? What are some ways you can share things like books and toys?

Take It Further
For more practice in sharing, read and dramatize The Doorbell Rang by Pat Hutchins, using 12 paper cookies as props.
