TOP STORY: Stargazing Makes Me Hungry
by Buster Baxter

Buster Baxter's Byline Picture

The winter is a great time to look at the stars. On a clear night, there's a great view! (Just remember to stay warm.) But for some reason, I always get hungry when I look at the night sky...

My favorite constellation is the Big Dipper. It's easy to find, it's a fun shape, and it reminds me of the big ice cream dipper they have at the Sugar Bowl.

Pal's favorite constellation is called "the Big Dog." (You can guess why HE likes it.) And my favorite star IN the Big Dog is called Sirius. That reminds me of the Sugar Bowl, too! Whenever I order one of my favorites - an extra thick Calamari Crunch milkshake - they say, "Are you serious?"

I also like to look at Gemini - "the twins." That one reminds me of the Tibbles. And, of course, the 2-for-1 specials they have sometimes at the Sugar Bowl: twin scoops of chocolate ice cream for the price of one. Delicious, and a great bargain.

(In case you were wondering, I don't ALWAYS think about the Sugar Bowl. In the summer, when I play outside, and all the leaves are out, and the grass is so green... well, that's when I think about these great salads I make from vegetables I grow in the community garden. Yum!)

WORLD MUSIC: A Few of My Favorites
By Sue Ellen

Sue Ellen's Byline Picture

I love music! I like to listen to American pop songs, but sometimes I want something a little different. Here's some other music I like, too!

  1. J-Pop is short for Japanese Pop music. It's very popular in Japan, and in other countries. A lot of it is really good to dance to. Plus, there's music from Japanese Anime movies.
  2. "Bollywood" music from India is great. That's music from Indian movies. The rhythms are catchy, and there are many different kinds of songs.
  3. There are many types of music from Brazil: fast songs, slow songs. A lot of it has wonderful drumming.
  4. Music from the African continent comes from tons of different countries, each with its own sound. Check it out!

Most of this music is not in English, but it's still fun to listen to (even if just once to see if you like it). You can find it many places, but the Internet is a great place to start.

Enjoy!
