TOP STORY: First Day of Summer Vacation

Arthur Read's Byline Picture Birthdays are great. Family celebrations, too. But nothing beats the first day of summer vacation! The sun seems warmer. The birds sound sweeter. Even the air smells fresher (but that might just be because my mom made me pick up my dirty clothes).

I want to pack as much stuff into the first day of summer vacation as possible. Here's my plan:

6:30 - Wake up

6:35 - Do special "I don't have to go to school" dance

7:00 - Breakfast of oatmeal with raisins, plus a glass of orange juice

7:30 - Watch TV (Janie Electron: Girl Genius)

8:00 - Watch TV (Cybercheese)

8:30 - Watch TV (Simply Weirdparents)

9:00 - Mom comes in to say, "Enough TV! Go outside and play!"

9:30 - Kick the soccer ball around with the gang

10:30 - Lie on the grass, watch clouds go by, and drink lemonade

11:30 - Get pestered by D.W. (some things don't change during the summer)

12:00 - Lunch of macaroni and cheese, plus an apple

1:00 - Read comics in the tree house with Buster

2:30 - Ice cream truck!

3:00 - Play video games with Buster

4:30 - Dad comes in to say, "Enough video games! Go outside and play!"

4:45 - Play HORSE at my basketball hoop

6:00 - Dinner

7:30 - Work on 2,500-piece jigsaw puzzle with Mom, Dad, and
(*sigh*) D.W.

9:00 - Bedtime
